Now back to the post for the week from our friend Angela...
Moments are a perfect paradox. The present, in a sense, is all there is; yet, it is also only a small fraction of what is. All we truly have is right now, and right now is also quite fleeting. Once we grasp it, it’s gone.
To borrow a quote from Jay Shetty...
“All of life is a balance between the ephemeral and the eternal, the personal and the universal, the reality and the possibility.”
Said another way… The good news? Everything is temporary (e.g., the hard stuff, failure, disappointment). The bad news? Everything is temporary (e.g., the good stuff, joy, excitement).
What’s the net of this mental olympics? What does this get us? How does this help us become creators of our own stories? How does this help us live more authentically and strategically?
Well, I truly believe that in this realization, we give ourselves a framework within which to move through it all – disappointment, hardship, excitement, and even joy.
When you’re up against a challenge, what is the story you tell yourself? Do you take it as the final stop or just an inevitable stop along the way? Is your path shut down the moment disappointment surfaces, or do you trust in the unfolding of your life?
The Unlock
When we are clear about our values, purpose, and vision, we have a lens through which to view our lives, weather discomfort, and keep going.
It helps us sift through the tough stuff that’s meant to teach us something and to let go of the tough stuff that just doesn’t serve us any longer.
Your Turn
- What is difficult for you right now?
- What is your wisdom telling you about the path that you’re on?
- Does this thing belong on your path as a necessary step in your journey, or is it better left behind and let go of?
In gentle strength,
Angela
